Cub Scouts

Murphy First United Methodist Church sponsors (charters) Cub Pack 400.

The Pack is in the Nantahala District (Clay, Graham, Cherokee counties).
The Nantahala District is part of the Daniel Boone Council BSA in Asheville which covers fourteen (14) western NC counties.
We have District scouting professionals who are always on call and meet with us at a monthly Round Table Meeting at Andrews UMC.
We strive to have back up leadership at all levels who have a least basic training and are in uniform.
Current (July 2014) make up of Pack 400:
     Tigers (1st grade) - 5
     Wolfs (2nd grade) - 4
     Bears (3rd grade) - 10
     Webelos (4th grade) - 6
     Webelos (5th grade) - 4
     Total - 29
We have a complete year-round program
     Meeting times:
          From September to May, den meetings are held twice per month at the time and place of the discretion of the den leaders.
          From June to August, there are usually no den or pack meetings, but is up to the discretion of the den leaders.
          The Summer schedule usually involves at least one significant event or activity for June, July, August.
          From September to May, pack meetings are usually scheduled on the third Thursday of the month from 5:50 pm to 7:00 pm at the church.
          Months with 5 Thursdays usually have no meeting times, but this is up to the discretion of the den leaders.
     Meeting location(s):
          Most of the Den Meetings and the Pack Meeting are held at the church.  However, Den leaders have the choice of time and location of all their
     Scout supplies:
          Basic scouting supplies are available locally at King's Pharmacy in Murphy.
          The Scout Store which carries most everything and can order almost anything for us is located in the Daniel Boone Council BSA Office in Asheville
